Mexican artist born in MEXICO (Uruapan Michoacán), in 1962, with an active 40-year career, Javier Marín has exhibited individually on more than one hundred occasions and has participated in over two hundred collective exhibitions in Mexico, the United States and Canada, as well as in countries in Central America, South America, Asia, and Europe.
Javier Marín conceives an integral human being through analyzing the construction and deconstruction process of three-dimensional forms.
To achieve his objective, he works with photography, textile, graphics, drawing and sculpture. Although many of his pieces are paradoxically abstract, he is mostly known for his figurative sculpture depicting human.
For his investigation, he has not only used traditional materials and worked with highly trained technicians (terracotta, cast bronze, marble carving or wood carving), but he has also worked with polymers to incapsulate seeds, sugar, meat, tobacco and others. With his pieces, he invites the spectator to focus on the evidence of the process, (the elements that are crucial in the transformation of materials into shape) and the intervention of third parties. Lately he has been working with digital scanning and printing.
His most recent occupation has been the creation of a Foundation dedicated to human development through design art and traditional culture.
The foundation has two closely related programs: the Educational Program and the Collections Program. Both turn around three fundamental axes:
