In 1985, he founded the gallery that bears his name, which he then also turned into an auction house. The following year, he created Difusora Mexicana de Arte (Dimart), one of Mexico\u2019s first auction houses, together with Mariana P\u00e9rez Amor, Alejandra Reigadas, Ram\u00f3n L\u00f3pez Quiroga, Patricia Ortiz Monasterio, and Jaime Riestra.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]From 1990 to 1993, he was president of the Asociaci\u00f3n Mexicana de Comerciantes de Arte (Mexican Association of Art Dealers). He is an expert in art and antiques appraisal, licensed by the Mexican government. He has held more than 300 auctions and given different talks and seminars dedicated to art and art forgery both in Mexico and abroad.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]His opinion is valued as one of the fundamental voices in Mexican visual art.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text]Valeria Matos<\/strong> has a master\u2019s degree in women\u2019s studies from the Universidad Aut\u00f3noma Metropolitana (Autonomous Metropolitan University) and a bachelor\u2019s from the Instituto Cultural Hel\u00e9nico-Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de M\u00e9xico (Hellenic Cultural Institute-Autonomous University of Mexico).[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text]She has worked in different cultural institutions like the Museo Nacional de Antropolog\u00eda (National Museum of Anthropology) and the Secretar\u00eda de Cultura de la Ciudad de M\u00e9xico (Mexico City Cultural Ministry). She is part of the Rafael Matos auction house team and a lecturer at different cultural venues such as the Museo Memoria y Tolerancia (Memory and Tolerance Museum). His cartoons cover very different themes, ranging from children\u2019s jokes to the most acute political critiques.
